Recently I tried the Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, the Converse Chuck 70’s, the Converse One Stars, the Converse Jack Purcells, and the Converse Pro Leathers to compare their sizing to each other and to other popular shoe brands and my conclusion was this: Converse sizing consistently run about a half size bigger than my normal shoe sizing.
This was the case with every Converse style I tried, except the Converse Pro Leathers, which fit true to size. If you prefer a snug fit, you may need to size Converse down a half size. I’d recommend using this Converse size guide tutorial to learn more:

In this article I will go through all the Converse shoes that I have tried, and use photos to compare Converse sizing to the sizing of other popular shoe brands. Again, in my experience, Converse shoes run about a half size big.
For example, here are my size 12 Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars compared to my size 12 Nike Air Max Shoes:
As you can see above, those Converse Chucks run about a half size bigger in length. Below is a photo of my Converse Chucks compared to Crocs sizing (both size 12):
I found other types of Converse shoes (Converse Jack Purcell, Converse One Star, Converse Chuck 70) to also run about a half size big regarding length.
One exception was the Converse Pro Leathers, which I felt like fit true to size. Here is my size 12 Converse Pro Leather shoes (on the right) compared to those same size 12 Converse Chucks:
As you can see, those Converse Pro Leathers do not fit as long as Converse Chucks. Here is a look at my Converse Pro Leather shoes compared directly Nike Dunk:
Again, I fould the Converse Pro Leathers to have a more true-to-size fit than other Converse shoes.
Most Converse sizing runs big, including the Converse Chucks, Chuck 70’s, One Stars, and Jack Purcells. In this article I want to discuss Converse shoe sizing in more detail, and compared all of these shoes to Vans, Adidas, Nike, and New Balance shoes to give you a visual illustration on how the sizing compares.
Converse Sizing
How Do Converse Fit?
In my experience, Converse shoes fit bigger than my normal shoe size. I have found Converse shoes to run a half size big. If you prefer a snug fit, I would recommend sizing down a half size.
The lone exception to this was the Converse Pro Leathers, which fit true to size. But I found the Converse Chucks, Chuck 70’s, One Stars, and Jack Purcells to all fit about a half size bigger than my normal shoe sizing.
Do Converse Shoes Fit Wide Feet?
In my experience, Converse shoes have a narrow design. Not all Converse styles are offered in wide sizing, and if the style you are interested in does not come in wide sizing, the fact that these shoes run about a half-size big may be a good thing to provide some extra breathing room for your foot.
Converse Chuck Taylors All Stars are offered in wide sizing. If you have wide feet, it’s best to opt for wide sizing. Click here to view the Converse Chucks wide options available at Converse.com (affiliate link takes you to Converse.com).
Converse Sizing for Chucks
Do Converse Chucks Run Big or Small?
After wearing the Converse Chucks for several years and comparing their sizing to other popular brands my conclusion is they consistently run a bigger than other popular brands. They even run a little bit bigger than other types of Converse shoes, although I did find the sizing for Converse Chucks to be very similar to the sizing of the Converse One Stars.
Ultimately, I would recommend sizing down the Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars a half size in order to match your normal shoe sizing. The fit is definitely looser than other popular casual shoes.
It’s also important to understand that these shoes have a narrow design. If you have wide feet, it would be best to order wide sizing. To read more, visit my Converse Chuck Taylor Sizing Guide.
