This Nike Air Force 1 Sizing Guide uses direct comparison photos where I put my Nike Air Force 1 shoes next to other popular shoes so you can see the difference in sizing and width. After trying these shoes, do Nike Air Force 1 shoes run big or small?
For most people, Air Force 1 shoes run a little bit bigger than normal shoe sizing. When I compared AF1 sizing to other popular shoes, I found the length, on average, to be just a little bit longer than other shoes. In my opinion, the most notable difference is the AF1 has a wider, roomier toe box which can also make the shoe feel bigger than normal shoe sizing. I would suggest you view my side-by-side comparison sizing photos where I compare AF1 sizing to the sizing of other popular shoes. As I mentioned above, the sizing of Air Force 1 shoes runs a little bit longer in length than other types of popular retro athletic shoes. For example, below is a photo of my Air Force 1 shoes (left) compared to New Balance 550 sizing:
As you can see, the AF1 runs longer, and also has a rounder, wider toe box area.
You can also see the difference in length when you compare the Air Force 1 sizing (left) to the sizing of Nike Air Max 90:
But there are also popular retro athletic shoes that have a more comparable fit. For example, below is a picture of my AF1 sizing compared to Air Jordan 1’s:
If you look closely, you can see just a tiny bit of extra length in the AF1 compared to the AJ1, but the overall sizing of these two shoes is similar. The main takeaway is expect the AF1 to fit, on average, a little bit bigger than most other types of shoes.
In the sections below, I will compare the sizing of both men’s and women’s Nike Air Force 1 to the sizing of other popular shoe brands using comparison side-by-side photos. All men’s photos use a size 12 shoe and all women’s photos use a size 7 shoe.

Are Nike Air Force 1 Shoes Wide or Narrow?
In my experience, Air Force 1 shoes have a regular width through the forefoot, but have a wide, roomy toe box area which can make the shoe feel a bit bigger than other types of shoes.
When you compare the AF1 to certain types of modern athletic shoes, you can see the difference in toe box design. For example, below are my Nike Air Forec 1’s (left) compared to Adidas 2k Boost sizing.
As you can see, the toe box on the AF1 has a rounder, wider design.
However, don’t expect the AF1 to be the widest design on the market. If you have extra wide feet, you may still need to adjust sizing to accomodate. For example, below is a picture of my Air Force 1 compared to Crocs (which are well-known for having a wide-fit design):
As you can see, the Crocs have a little bit wider design than the AF1 even though the AF1 is known for having a roomy toe box.
The main takeaway is expect the Nike Air Force 1 to *tilt* towards being wider and roomier than the average shoe, however, there are shoes on the market that have an even wider design. The AF1 falls somewhere in the middle, with most people feeling like it fits wider than average.
Nike Air Force 1 Sizing Conclusion
In my experience, the Nike Air Force 1 shoes fit a little bit larger than normal shoe sizing. When I compared the sizing of Air Force 1’s for both men and women to the sizing of other popular shoes, I found that the Air Force 1 shoes, more often than not, fit a little bit longer in length than other shoes.
Also, AF1 sizing is a little bit wider in the toe box than average shoes, which can also create a feeling that the AF1 runs big. If you prefer a snug design, it may be best to size down a half size. I ordered my normal sizing, and although they fit, they definitely felt roomier than most other types of shoes that I wear.
