This Nike Air Jordan 1 Sizing Guide uses direct comparison photos where I put my Air Jordan 1 shoes next to other popular shoes so you can see the difference in sizing and width. After trying these shoes, do Air Jordan 1 shoes run big or small?
Nike Air Jordan 1 shoes fit true to size for most people. When I compared AJ1’s side-by-side to other types of retro athletic shoes, I found the sizing length and width to be very standard. However, I would advise you to look at the sizing photos I took so you can judge for yourself and compare AJ1 sizing to other types of shoes you own. As I mentioned above, I found the Air Jordan 1 to fit true to size compared to many other types of retro athletic shoes, For example, here are my Air Jordan 1’s (on the right) compared to New Balance 550:

And here are my Air Jordan 1’s compared to Adidas Superstars:
It is worth noting that I found the Air Jordan 1 to fit a little bit smaller than Air Force 1 sizing. AF1’s are well-known for having a loose fit design that runs a little bit bigger than normal shoe sizing. If you look closely below, you can see the AF1 on the left fits a tiny bit longer in length than the AJ1:
The main takeaway is to expect AJ1 sizing to be true-to-size, but I would recommend you to scroll down and look at all the sizing comparison photos so you can judge for yourself. All men’s photos use a size 12 shoe and all women’s photos use a size 7 shoe.

Are Air Jordan 1 Shoes Wide or Narrow?
Most people find that the Nike Air Jordan 1 has a standard width that doesn’t fit too wide or too narrow.
Below is a photo of Air Jordan 1 in regular width compared to extra wide Nike Air Monarch shoes. This may give you a better idea how wide the AJ1 sizing is in regular width:
Again, expect the width of the Air Jordan 1 to be standard (meaning it is very comparable to the width of other retro athletic shoes). For example, when you compare the width of Air Jordan 1 shoes to the width of Nike Dunks, they are very similar:
However, there are other retro athletic shoes that have a more narrow fit. For example, below is a photo of Nike Blazers (which have a narrow design) compared to AJ1 sizing:
This is where you can read more about how AJ1 sizing compares to Blazer sizing.
The main takeaway is expect the width sizing of the Air Jordan 1 shoes to be very comparable to the width of other athletic shoes for both men and women. If you have wide feet, you may need to size up a half size to create extra space. To read more, visit my article that discusses the width of Air Jordan 1.
Nike Air Jordan 1 Sizing Conclusion
In my experience, Air Jordan 1 fits true to size for most people. The sizing of Air Jordan 1 shoes is very similar to other types of retro athletic shoes for both men and women.
The width of Air Jordan 1 shoes is also very standard. However, because the upper is made with leather, the shoe can feel a bit tight until it fully breaks in. This is where you can read more about the width of Air Jordan 1 shoes.
