Nike Cortez vs Air Force 1 Sizing and Fit Comparison w/ Photos [AF1]

In this article I will directly compare Nike Cortez vs Air Force 1 sizing using the shoes that I own. Do the Nike Cortez and Air Force 1 fit the same?

No, the Nike Cortez and Air Force 1 do not fit the same. The Nike Cortez runs small, and the Air Force 1 runs big, which creates a significant difference in how these two styles fit. Scroll down for photos.

In this article I will use side-by-side photos to compare Nike Cortez vs AF1 sizing.

Nike Cortez vs AF1 Sizing

When I compared the sizing of the Nike Cortez vs Air Force 1, I found the sizing to be very different.

The Nike Cortez shoes have a narrow design that runs about a half size smaller than my normal shoe size. The Air Force 1’s have a looser design, that runs a little bit bigger than my normal shoe size (but probably not a full half size bigger).

Here is my Nike Cortez compared to my Air Force 1 sizing (both size 12):

As you can see, the Air Force 1 has a longer fit and a roomier toe box.

This difference also translates to women’s sizing. Here is a women’s size 7 Nike Air Force 1 compared to a women’s size 7 Nike Cortez:

My Advice On Sizing

For the Nike Cortez, I would advise you to size up unless you prefer a snug fit.

I have found the AF1 sizing to be just slightly bigger than true-to-size. I don’t size down, but it does have a roomy fit. If you prefer a snug fit, you may need to size down the AF1 a half size.

As you can see, the AF1 not only fits higher on the foot, it also has a taller heel height than the Nike Cortez.

Nike Cortez and Air Force 1 Width

I also compared the outsole width of my Nike Cortez vs Air Force 1 (AF1 picture first):

As you can see, the Air Force 1 has a wider fit than the Nike Cortez. The Nike Cortez, in my experience, has a narrow fit.

Nike Cortez vs AF1 Weight

Below I compare the weight of my Air Force 1 Low to my Nike Cortez (both size 12):

Not surprisingly, since the Air Force 1 fits bigger than the Nike Cortez, and has a bulkier design, it does weigh a bit more than the Nike Cortez.

Nike Cortez vs Air Force 1 Sizing Conclusion

In my experience, Air Force 1 sizing runs a full half size bigger than Nike Cortez sizing. Air Force 1 sizing is also a bit wider and roomier.

My advice is to size up the Nike Cortez a half size unless you prefer a snug fit. For more AF1 sizing photos, visit my article about Converse vs Air Force 1 Sizing.
