Levi’s has a wide range of jeans available for purchase, and sometimes the numerology used for Levi’s jeans can get confusing. If you are shopping for slim fit Levi’s, you have several options. Which Levi’s jeans are slim fit for men?
The Levi’s 511 jeans are true slim fit jeans. However, there are many other options made by Levi’s that might also work for men looking for a slim fit. Here’s what you need to know:
- Levi’s 511 Jeans – Slim – A true slim fit both above and below the knee.
- Levi’s 512 Jeans – Slim Taper – Slim fit above the knee, but taper to skinny near ankle.
- Levi’s 513 Jeans – Slim Straight – Slim fit above knee, loosen to straight below the knee.
- Levi’s 527 Jeans – Slim Bootcut – Slim fit above the knee but widen for a bootcut near ankle.
- Levi’s 531 Jeans – Slim Athletic – Roomier in seat and thigh for those with athletic builds.
- Levi’s 501 Jeans – Slim Taper – A new take which has a slimmer, taper leg than the original 501’s.
- Levi’s 510 Jeans – Skinny – These jeans are true skinny fit.
Overall, there are a lot of options above. Let me just mention one thing – if you notice, both the 501 and the 512 above are a “slim taper”. These jeans are quite different, however. The 501 slim taper has more of a regular-slim fit, which will fit looser than the 512. The 512 jeans are a cross between slim and skinny.
It’s also worth mentioning that not all Levi’s 501 jeans are slim taper. The real 501 jeans actually have a regular straight fit, but Levi’s has recently added a slim-taper version of the 501 for those who prefer the iconic look of the 501, but want a sleeker cut.
And you will notice I listed the Levi’s 510 jeans above. No, they are not slim fit. They are true skinny jeans, but I wanted to list it as an option for those of you who prefer a tighter fit.
In this article let’s take a closer look at these slim fit Levi’s jeans. I will discuss my experience regarding the fit of these jeans, and I will also discuss differences to consider.
Slim Fit Levi’s Jeans
Levi’s 511 Slim Fit Jeans
The 511 jeans are Levi’s truest slim fit. They are slim both above and below the knee, and have a slim leg opening. Here I am wearing my Levi’s 511 jeans:
We will use these jeans as a baseline to compare the other options against. In my experience, these jeans fit just like you would expect a pair of slim jeans to fit.
They are available in both 100% cotton and stretch-blend options.
Levi’s 512 Slim Taper Fit Jeans
The 512 jeans are Levi’s slim taper fit. They are slim above the knee, but taper to a skinny leg opening. Think of them as a hybrid between slim and skinny jeans. Here I am wearing my Levi’s 512 jeans:
As you can see, the fit near the ankle is almost the exact same as the fit of skinny jeans. For comparison, here is the leg opening of my 512 jeans (left) compared to my 511 jeans (right):
And here is a look at my 512 slim taper jeans sitting on top of my 511 slim jeans. As you can see, the blue 512 jeans taper near the ankle:
Overall, expect a skinnier fit near the ankle in the 512 jeans compared to the 511 jeans. To read more, visit my article that compares the Levi’s 511 and 512 jeans, or watch the video below.
Levi’s 513 Slim Straight Fit Jeans
The 513 jeans are Levi’s slim straight fit. They are slim above the knee, but loosen to a straight leg opening. Think of them as a hybrid between slim and straight jeans. Might be a nice option for those who need a slimmer leg, but don’t want something too tight.
Here I am wearing my Levi’s 513 jeans:
The Levi’s 511 and 513 jeans fit very similar above the knee. The main difference is the 513 will be slightly looser below the knee. Here are my 511 jeans sitting on top of my 513 jeans near the leg opening:
Overall, expect a looser fit near the ankle in the 513 jeans compared to the 511 jeans. To read more, visit my article that compares the Levi’s 511 and 513 jeans, or watch the video below.
Levi’s 510 Skinny Fit Jeans
The 510 jeans are Levi’s skinny jeans. As I mentioned earlier, even though these are not listed as slim fit, I wanted to include them in case you prefer a skinnier, tighter fit. These jeans are skinny both above and below the knee:
Here I am wearing my Levi’s 510 jeans:
These jeans will be tighter than the Levi’s 511 jeans both above and below the knee. Here are my 510 jeans sitting on top of my 511 jeans:
If you prefer a tight fit, the Levi’s 510 jeans may be best. To read more, visit my article that compares the Levi’s 511 and 510 jeans, or watch the video below.
Levi’s 527 Slim Bootcut Jeans
The 527 jeans are Levi’s slim bootcut jeans. These jeans will fit slim above the knee, but widen drastically near the leg opening so that they can fit over the top of boots (best jeans for work boots).
Here I am wearing my Levi’s 527 jeans:
Obviously, these 527 jeans will fit much looser below the knee than true slim jeans.
Other Slim Levi’s Jeans to Consider
- Levi’s 531 Jeans – Slim Athletic – Athletic Fit jeans are designed to be roomier through the seat and thighs for those who have an athletic build. These jeans will still be slim, especially below the knee, and might be a good option for those who find regular slim jeans to be a bit too tight around the hips and thighs.
- Levi’s 501 Jeans – Slim Taper – Again, this is a new option. Not all Levi’s 501 jeans are slim taper. The real 501 jeans actually have a regular straight fit, but Levi’s has recently added a slim-taper version of the 501 for those who prefer the iconic look of the 501, but want a sleeker cut. The 501 jeans use a button fly.
