I like the Filson Mackinaw Wool Bibs because they are made in the USA using premium 24-ounce Mackinaw Wool. According to Filson, the Mackinaw wool fibers used in these overalls can be bent and flexed 20,000 times without breaking.
In recent decades, most clothing companies have moved operations overseas to help reduce costs. Unfortunately, in many instances, this also reduces quality.
In this article we will take a closer look at the best coveralls, bibs, and overalls made in the USA so that you can find a pair of USA bibs that fits your needs.

Carhartt R03 Arctic Quilt Lined Duck Bib Overalls
UPDATE – As of 2022, Carhartt no longer makes the R03 Bibs in the USA. If you need canvas bibs that are made in the USA, Roundhouse offers USA duck bib overalls which you can view by clicking here (paid affiliate link takes you to Amazon.com).
Carhartt is a well-known name in workwear, and may be a brand you already wear. Carhartt’s R03 bib overalls are still made here in the USA. Here’s what these overalls look like:
This is the current price of these Carhartt R03 bib overalls available at Amazon (affiliate link takes you to Amazon.com). Overall, expect these bibs to fit true to size.
These are insulated bibs. They are lined with Carhartt’s arctic insulation, which is its warmest insulation. If you are looking for plain, unlined overalls, my suggestion is to check out the Round House overalls featured next on this list.
These Carhartt R03 bibs combine a tough, dependable outer-shell canvas with an ultra-warm lining to give you something dependable for the winter months.
Here are some of the details for these Carhartt made in the USA overalls:
- Heavyweight Build – These bibs have a 12-ounce, 100% cotton heavyweight duck canvas which can stand up to a tough work site. To see other canvas options, visit our article about the best canvas bib overalls.
- Double Knee – These bibs have a reinforced double knee to help them hold up over the long term.
- Knee Pad Pockets – These Carhartt overalls also have internal knee pad pockets in case you want to pair them with removable knee pad inserts.
- Knee Zips – These bibs have ankle to knee zippers, and have storm flaps that cover the zippers to keep the weather out.
- Adjustable Design – The elastic suspenders on the top of these bibs are adjustable so that you can easily fit them to your body shape.

- Machine Washable – These bibs are machine washable for an easy clean.
- Pockets – These bibs have a multi-compartment chest pocket, two front waist pockets, two reinforced back pockets, multiple side utility pockets, and a hammer loop. They also have the knee pad pockets that we discussed earlier.
- Standard Fit – These overalls run true to size, and have a standard fit that isn’t too baggy or too tight.
- Made in the USA – These are the only type of Carhartt bibs that are made in the USA.
Again, these overalls are insulated and best used during cold weather. Multiple colors available.

Round House is the self proclaimed “largest and oldest maker” of American made overalls and jeans. Round House was founded in 1903, and to this day, they still run their operations in the state of Oklahoma.
Unlike Carhartt, who only has one bib made in the USA, Round House has a wide selection of USA overalls for you to choose from.
Round House Cotton USA Bib
One of the most popular styles is their standard cotton bib overall. Here is what these Round House cotton overalls look like:

Filson USA Bib Overalls
Filson is a clothing company based in Seattle WA that has a deep-rooted tradition in providing heavy-duty dependable workwear. Their founder, C.C. Filson, opened shop in 1897 and, at that time, specialized in making ultra-tough, ultra-dependable clothing for stampeders heading north for the Klondike Gold Rush.
The Stampeders who marched north towards the Klondike region put their lives at risk in search of gold. The conditions in the Yukon were brutal. Winters were dark and devastatingly long.
The stampeders faced blinding snow storms, avalanches, hypothermia, towering terrain, malnutrition, disease, and all the other perils of wilderness. It is estimated that out of the 100,000 people who set out to stampede for gold, only 30,000 actually made it to the Klondike region.
Making clothes that could hold up in the sub-freezing wilderness meant C.C. Filson couldn’t cut corners, and had to emphasize toughness and dependability. And although the Klondike Gold Rush has long since passed, that tradition of toughness and dependability has carried over to Filson’s current collection of workwear and bibs.
Not all of Filson’s bibs are made in the USA, but a few are. And the cool thing is they offer some unique options that other USA bib companies don’t offer. Here’s what you need to know about their USA bibs:
- Filson Mackinaw Wool Bibs – These are the only wool bibs on this list. They are naturally water-resistant and have button gussets for easy movement. Filson boasts that the fibers in their wool bibs can be bent and flexed 20,000 times without breaking. Click here to view these wool USA bibs at Filson.com (affiliate link takes you to Filson.com).
Pella USA Overalls
As I mentioned earlier in the article, it is difficult to find manufacturers who make bibs and overalls here in the USA. The choices are limited.
One company who still makes overalls here in the USA (in their Iowa factory) is Pella. Pella specializes in making veterinary apparel and supplies. As you maybe know, bib overalls are very popular among veterinaries.
Yes, you might be thinking you’re not a vet yourself. But the good news is many of the styles that Pella makes will work just fine as standard, everyday overalls.
For example, their basic unlined men’s overall (click here to view). This is a classic overall design with front chest utility pockets, and plenty of other pockets throughout. They are made with a poly/cotton blend.
Pella also makes a heavyweight duck-cotton USA overall (click here to view). These bibs have a front flap chest pocket and are lined with a nylon-quilted insulation.
Another cool thing about Pella is they make women’s USA overalls. To my research and knowledge, this is one (if not the only) type of women’s overalls made in the USA. Click here to view a pair of Pella women’s overalls.

Topps by Pinnacle Safety Coveralls Made in the USA
There are very few coveralls made in the USA. It is much easier to find bib overalls made in the USA that it is to find coveralls made in the USA.
Topps was founded in Rochester, Indiana in 1938. Today they are owned by Pinnacle, and specialize in making flame-resistant coveralls and public-safety uniform coveralls. Here is what a pair of their flame-resistant coveralls looks like:
Topps has a wide selection of USA coveralls, including both short-sleeve and long-sleeve versions. Click here to read more about Topps coveralls, and what products they have available.
7 Things to Consider When Buying Coveralls & Overall Bibs Made in the USA
Material
Most insulated coveralls for work will use either a nylon or cotton duck fabric, and both are very durable. Although both will have a break-in period, in my experience, nylon can take a bit longer to break in. If you need a durable duck fabric, read more by visiting our article about the best insulated duck coveralls.
Hood
Do you need an attached hood with your coveralls? Although many coveralls just come with a collar, there are a few brands that build coveralls with an attached hood. To read more, visit our article about the best hooded insulated coveralls.
Pockets
Although most coveralls and overalls made in the USA have chest pockets, this can vary brand to brand. If you need to maximize pockets, that means you are probably looking for coveralls that not only have front chest tool pockets, but also have leg utility pockets. Most of the options above have plenty of pockets since they are built for workers.
Noise
If you are concerned about noise, many of the popular outdoor brands use fabric that minimizes noise. Rugged nylon and cotton duck fabrics may be tough, but they can also be noisy – especially nylon duck.
Waterproof
Not all insulated coveralls will be waterproof. Many will have at least a water-repellent finish (which means it repels light precipitation). If you need true waterproof coveralls, you may need to stick with an outdoor brand. Many of those brands prioritize water protection.
USA Workwear
In this article we discussed the best coveralls, bibs, and overalls made in the USA. If you are interested in products made in the USA, consider our other articles:
Reinforced Heels
When buying overalls and coveralls made in the USA, be sure to consider the back of the leg openings. These areas take on a lot of wear, mainly due to boot friction. This is especially an issue if you have insulated coveralls with leg zippers.
If you leave the leg zipper slightly un-zipped near the boot, it can cause the legs to fit baggy over the boot, and creates more opportunities for the leg opening to wear out. I’d recommend buying coveralls and overalls that have the reinforced heels.
