I recently put my hands on both the Nike Dunk Low and the Nike Dunk High so that I could compare the width of Nike Dunks to the width of other popular shoes. After comparing the width of Nike Dunks to over 20 other popular shoes, my conclusion was this: Nike Dunks have a regular width that is very comparable to the large majority of other popular shoes.
I took side-by-side width comparison photos so you can judge for yourself. To navigate this page you can simply scroll down, or you can click below on the specific type of shoe you are interested in, which will jump you ahead on the page to those specific Nike Dunk width comparison photos that I took.

Do Nike Dunks Fit Wide or Narrow?
In my experience, the Nike Dunk’s forefoot width and toe box width is very comparable to the width of other popular retro athletic shoes. Overall, I think the Nike Dunk has a regular width that isn’t too wide or too narrow.
Do Nike Dunks Have a Wide Toe Box?
Toe box shape can greatly affect the fit and comfort of a shoe. The toe box of Nike Dunks has a classic rounded design with a very standard width and depth compared to other types of retro athletic shoes.
For example, here is a photo I took comparing the width of men’s Nike Dunks (on the left) to the width of Air Jordan 1:
As you can see above, the overall shape and width of the toe box is very similar. Also, the Nike Dunk’s toe box has a very standard depth compared to the Air Jordan 1:
And here is a photo I took comparing the width of women’s Nike Dunk (on the left) to the width of Air Jordan 1:
Crocs are well known for having a wide toe box area, and when you compare Nike Dunk width to Crocs, you can see the Nike Dunk has a more regular-sized toe box that isn’t as wide as Crocs. Here’s mine for men:
And here is women’s:
But even though the Nike Dunk doesn’t have a wide toe box, don’t expect it to be narrow either. For example, when I compare it to the Nike Cortez (which is well known for having a narrow fit), you can see the toe box on the Nike Dunk is wider:
The main takeaway is expect the toe box of the Nike Dunk to have a regular width that isn’t too wide or too narrow. If you have wide feet, sizing up may be needed.
Nike Dunk Compared to Wide Shoes
Below, I took a photo of my Nike Dunks (on the right) in regular width compared to the width of an extra wide size Nike Air Monarch. This will help illustrate how wide Nike Dunks are in regular width compared to wide-sized shoes (Dunk High in first photo, then Dunk Low):
The main takeaway is expect the Nike Dunk to have a regular width that isn’t too wide or too narrow. If you have wide feet, it may be best to size up a half size to provide extra space inside the shoe. In the next section, let’s take a look at all the sizing width photos I took so you can see more examples. All the photos below use a size 12 men’s shoe or a size 7 women’s shoe (size chart).

Wide Nike Dunk Alternative
If you are looking for a Nike Dunk alternative that has a roomier design, the Nike Air Force 1 might be a good option. The Air Force 1 has a slightly wider forefoot and also runs a little bit longer in length than the Nike Dunk:
But perhaps the biggest difference in sizing between the Nike Dunk and Air Force 1 is the Air Force 1 has a deeper, roomier toe box that has a more squared shape at the toe. This might be helpful if you need extra space for wide feet.
Narrow Nike Dunk Alternative
If you are looking for a Nike Dunk alternative that has a narrow design, the Nike Blazer might be a good option. The Nike Blazers have a has a similar sizing length to the Nike Dunk, but has a narrow design. Here is a photo of my Nike Dunks compared to Nike Blazer (on the left):
I also feel like the Nike Blazer toe box isn’t as deep as the toe box of the Nike Dunk, which can help provide a more snug fit:
Nike Dunk Width Conclusion
In my experience, Nike Dunks have a regular width that is very comparable to the width of other types of athletic shoes. I ordered my normal sizing and they fit comfortably. However, I do not have wide feet. If you have wide feet, you may need to size up to provide more space inside the shoe.
