If you have wide feet, sometimes buying slip-on shoes can be a literal pain because many types of slip-on styles are designed to have a more secure, snug fit. But what about Hey Dude shoes? Are Hey Dude Shoes wide fit?
Not all Hey Dude shoes are offered in wide fit, but the company does offer some of their shoes in a wide fit design. In my experience, normal Hey Dude shoes have an average width, but I have found them to be very forgiving because the material used on many of their shoes is lightweight and stretchy. I would say the first thing to understand is that the material used in many types of Hey Dude Wally and Hey Dude Wendy shoes is very stretchable. This means that even though the width of the shoe is only what I would describe as average, the shoe is very comfortable because the fabric forms easily to the unique shape of my foot.

However, not all types of Hey Dude shoes use this stretchy fabric. Some types of Hey Dude shoes use a non-stretch fabric like cotton canvas, chambray, linen, etc.
Hey Dude does make wide fit shoes. So if you feel like you still need a wider design, you do have options.
As I mentioned earlier, I found the width of Hey Dude shoes to be very similar to the width of normal athletic shoes. For example, here is a men’s Hey Dude Wally compared to Nike Dunk width:

Overall, I found the width of Hey Dude shoes to be very similar to the width used in other popular slip on shoes. For example, when I compared Hey Dude shoes to Vans slip-ons, I felt like the width through the forefoot was very similar:
Again, the material in most types of Hey Dudes is very stretchy and forgiving, so that also helps.

Are Hey Dude Shoes Wide Fit or Narrow?
Hey Dude shoes have an average width that isn’t too wide or too narrow. If you have wide feet, there are two pieces of information you need to consider:
- Stretchy Material – Many types of Hey Dude shoes are made with stretch upper material. This material is very forgiving and conforms to the unique shape of my foot.

Do Hey Dude Shoes Have a Wide Toe Box?
When just comparing the sizing of the toe box area, Hey Dude shoes compare very similar to Vans. But, because the material is so stretchy, I personally found Hey Dude shoes to be much more comfortable and forgiving than Vans Slip On Shoes.

Again, Hey Dude shoes are about average width, but because the material is stretchy, in my experience they conform nicely to a wide foot.
Are Hey Dude Shoes Comfortable for Wide Feet?
In my experience, Hey Dude shoes are comfortable for four main reasons:
- They are stretchy
- They use thick memory foam insoles
- They are flexible
- They are lightweight
Hey Dude Shoes Use Stretchy Fabric
Let me first disclaimer this by saying that there are certain types of Hey Dude shoe styles that do not use a stretch fabric. But the most classic type of Hey Dude shoes (for example, the Hey Dude Wally Sox Classics and the Hey Dude Wendy Sox Classics) are made using a stretchy, lightweight fabric that almost feels like a thick sock against the side of the foot.

Hey Dude Shoes Use Thick Memory Foam Insoles
Secondly, Hey Dude shoes use thick memory foam insoles under the foot which really cushion the foot and make the shoes very comfortable to wear. In the photo below, I tried to capture just how thick these memory foam insoles are:

How are Hey Dude Shoes Supposed to Fit?
Hey Dude shoes should not fit loose. Because they are slip on shoes, you will need at least a semi-snug fit to ensure that the shoe does not slip off your foot as you walk.
Overall, I found my normal shoe sizing led to a comfortable fit for Hey Dude shoes.
Do Hey Dude Shoes Run Big or Small?
Hey Dude shoes fit true to size. When I compared Hey Dude sizing to the sizing of other types of popular shoes, I found both the sizing length and width to be similar. I ordered my normal sizing and they fit comfortable.
