If you are shopping for a new pair of slip on shoes, comfort is a big factor. Nobody wants a pair of slip-on casual shoes that feels stiff and uncomfortable. But what about Hey Dude shoes? Are Hey Dude shoes comfortable to wear?
Yes, Hey Dude shoes are comfortable to wear. The classic styles are made with a lightweight, stretchable material that almost feels like a thick sock against the foot. The outsole of the shoe is extremely flexible and the shoe features a thick memory foam insole for comfort under the foot. When I recently tried several types of Hey Dude shoes, the thing that jumped out the most to me was how stretchable the fabric was. Again, it almost feels like a thick sock.

Hey Dude shoes are also very lightweight. For a size 12 men’s Hey Dude Wally Sox Classic shoe, I found the weight to be 0.45 pounds per shoe. For a size 7 women’s Hey Dude Wendy Sox Classic shoe, I found the weight to be 0.34 pounds per shoe. Photos below:
One thing you will want to consider is the width of Hey Dude Shoes. Overall, I found the width to be average. I found them to have a similar width when compared to Vans slip-on shoes, but not as wide as Crocs. But, again, the fabric in Hey Dude classics is so stretchable, that it really accommodates a wide range of foot sizes.

Are Hey Dude Shoes Comfortable?
Yes, I found Hey Dude shoes to be comfortable for five main reasons:
- The fabric in many types of Hey Dude shoes is stretchable and easy to wear
- The fabric is breathable and good for hot weather
- The outsole design is flexible and not stiff (are hey dudes slip-resistant?)
- The insoles is thick memory foam which cushions the foot
- The shoe is very lightweight and does not weigh down my foot
Hey Dude Shoes are Stretchy
Many different types of Hey Dude shoes are made with a stretchable knit-fabric upper (and have a stretchable cotton lining). This stretchable upper allows Hey Dude shoes to fit a wide variety of feet comfortably, without feeling restrictive.

It should be noted, however, that Hey Dude shoes are offered in several different types of fabrics. All types of Hey Dude shoes are built to be comfortable, but if you prefer a stretchy fabric, be sure to confirm the style you choose has the proper fabric.
Hey Dude Shoes are Breathable
These shoes are perfect for spring and summer hot weather. The upper knit fabric is very breathable. In the photo below, I tried to capture just how breathable the fabric is on my Hey Dude Wally Sox Tri-Tone shoes:
Hey Dude shoes do have an inner lining. I found the inner lining to be very breathable also.
Hey Dude Shoes are Flexible
Hey Dude shoes use what the company calls “flex and fold technology” with a patented UltraLIGHT EVA outsole that creates a comfortable, flexible shoe.
These shoes bend easily, which makes them very easy to pack in a backpack or luggage bag. It also means that the shoes won’t feel stiff on your feet as you walk.

What Size of Hey Dudes for a Comfortable Fit?
In my experience, Hey Dude men’s shoes fit true to size when compared to other types of casual slip on shoes. For women, Hey Dude shoes fit just a slight bit looser than other types of popular slip-on shoes (but still quite similar).
In general, for both men and women, my recommendation would be to order your normal sizing for Hey Dude shoes.
