New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi shoes weigh 10.4 ounces (0.65 pounds) per shoe for a size 12 men’s shoe. The New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi was the third most lightweight New Balance shoe that I tried.

The New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi v3 is a modern lightweight running shoe that has a very flexible design. The material is very breathable.

Why is the New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi so lightweight?
The Fresh Foam Arishi is made with a lightweight, breathable upper which helps keep the weight down:
There are, however, different types of New Balance shoes that are even more breathable. To illustrate how breathable these shoes are, here I am holding them up to the light:
There isn’t any light passing through.
Compare that to the New Balance FuelCell Rebel v2 shoes below, which actually show light passing through the material:
Still, you can expect the Fresh Foam Arishi to be lightweight and breathable, but it isn’t quite as breathable as some other types of New Balance running shoes.
This material, in combination with the foam midsole, allows the shoe to be both lightweight and flexible. In the video below, I tried to capture how flexible these shoes are:

Shoes Similar to the New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi
If you are interested in the New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi v3 because you like an ultra-lightweight running style, there are other options you will want to consider. Here’s what you need to know:
- New Balance FuelCell Rebel v2 – This Rebel shoe (or the 1080) was my favorite New Balance running shoe. It is the most lightweight shoe that I tried, and is built with breathable material. And it has a “squishy” comfort under the foot.
- New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v12 – This 1080 shoe was the only other New Balance shoe that I felt like was just as comfortable as the Rebel shoe above. Both have that “squishy” feeling to provide comfort under the foot.
- New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v12 – The 880 was the third most comfortable New Balance running shoe that I tried. It is very “squishy” under the foot, but I just thought the Rebel and 1080 were slightly more comfortable.
- New Balance Fresh Foam X 860v12 – The 860 is comfortable, but it isn’t as “squishy” under the foot. This might be beneficial for those of you who like more stability in your athletic shoes.
