Dockers Sizing: Do Dockers Pants Run Big? (pics)

In this article we discuss Dockers sizing and fit for men. In general, expect Dockers pants to run true to size, but the fit will obviously vary a bit depending on what style you choose.

Quickly, here’s what you need to know about some of the most popular styles:

  • Dockers Slim Fit (D1) – The D1 pants are the slimmest cut out of all the pants in this list. They are a slim cut from the hip to the ankle. They have a 15.5″ leg opening. Stretch fabric blend and Flex Comfort Waistband™ for comfort. Wrinkle-free technology.
  • Dockers Straight Fit (D2) – The D2 pants are a straight cut from the hip to the ankle, which makes them sort of an in-between cut for those who want something that isn’t too slim or too relaxed. They have a 16″ leg opening. Stretch fabric blend and Flex Comfort Waistband™ for comfort. Wrinkle-free technology.
  • Dockers Classic Fit (D3) – The D3 pants are what is called a “classic fit”. This fit is going to be a semi-relaxed, standard fit. The D3 pants fit looser than the D1 and D2 pants, but not as relaxed as the D4 pants. The D3 pants are for guys who want something that is relaxed, but not too sloppy and baggy. Plenty of room in seat and thigh for sitting, bending, stooping, etc. Stretch fabric blend and Flex Comfort Waistband™ for comfort. Wrinkle-free technology.
  • Dockers Relaxed Fit (D4) – The D4 pants are a relaxed-fit pant, and they are the loosest pants in this series. They are for those guys who want a roomier cut for comfort. Throw in the soft material and the flexible waistband and these are some of the most comfortable office khakis on the market. They don’t hug your legs in any area. Wrinkle-free technology.

In this article we will take a closer look at Dockers sizing and fit. I will use photos of some Dockers pants that I’ve owned, and let you know how they fit.

Dockers Sizing

Do Dockers Run Big or Small?

In my experience, Dockers run true to size, meaning they were sized correctly in the waist and inseam. One cool thing I really like about Dockers is most of their styles use a flexible waistband, which allows the sizing in the waist to conform to your individual needs.

I am a tall guy (6’3″), and I personally have found the length of Dockers pants to be sized correctly. Ordering your normal sizing in length should work out just fine for Dockers pants.

Do Dockers Shrink?

This is based just off of my experience. Yes, just like any other piece of clothing, if you own a pair of 100% cotton Dockers, you can expect them to shrink over time.

But in my experience, I’ve owned the flexible fabrics that are made with a material blend. I personally have not had a problem with shrinking. They may have shrunk just a little bit, but I honestly have not noticed a difference. If you are concerned about shrinking, order a flexible fabric.

Dockers Fit

Dockers sizing is one thing (they run true to size), but the overall Dockers fit itself will vary greatly depending on what style you buy. Dockers makes different fits that range from skinny to relaxed. These are the fits they offer:

  • Skinny
  • Tapered
  • Slim (I’ve tried)
  • Straight (I’ve tried)
  • Athletic
  • Classic (I’ve tried)
  • Relaxed (I’ve tried)

Dockers Fit Comparison

I personally have owned Dockers Slim Fit, Straight Fit, Classic Fit, and Relaxed Fit. Yes, the way these Dockers fit varies significantly. The good news is, because Dockers has such a wide variety of fits, you will likely find something that works well for you.

  • Slim Fit – These are true slim fit pants from the hip down through the ankle. They will show some shape in the hips and thighs.
  • Straight Fit – Straight fit from the hip down through the ankle. These pants will have a little bit more breathing room than the slim pants, but still will show some shape. A nice in-between fit.
  • Classic Fit – These are a semi-relaxed fit. These are nice for those of you who want something that doesn’t hug your legs, but feel like relaxed pants look sloppy. These give a semi-relaxed feel, for comfort and professionalism.
  • Relaxed Fit – This is a loose fit, and is best for those of you who really prefer a comfortable, baggy fit in your pants. These pants will not hug your leg in any area.

Again, in my experience, the waist and inseam of Dockers pants ran true to size. The flexible waist band offered in many types of Dockers pants really makes the waist easy to wear.
