This is my Keen Anchorage 3 review. These boots are both waterproof and insulated, which makes them great for brutal winter conditions. The insole is also thermal lined for extra warmth under the foot. These are great chore boots but are also very comfortable and can easily be worn as winter casual boots. I ordered my normal sizing and they fit true to size.

Keen Anchorage 3 Boots Review

Waterproof and Insulated for Winter

The Keen Anchorage 3 Boots are both waterproof and insulated and are great for winter conditions. These are great snow boots and make for great farm chore boots—I’ll even hose mine down when needed to clean them.

Again, yes, these are waterproof boots, meaning they do have an internal waterproof membrane. If you are unfamiliar with how these waterproof membranes work, they are sewn onto the inside of the boot and act as a barrier—they have tiny microscopic holes that are so small they hold out water, but vapor can still escape, which allows your foot to breathe.

The treated leather upper not only enhances durability but also adds extra water resistance, making these boots a reliable option for messy outdoor chores or heavy snow conditions.

Lightweight and Flexible Design

Despite being boots, don’t think of these as heavy, clumsy boots. They’re actually quite flexible and easy to wear. You can watch my review video at the top of the page where I tried to show on the screen just how flexible these boots are.

Keen’s use of a compression-molded foam midsole adds to their lightweight feel and provides cushioning that reduces foot fatigue. Whether you’re tackling farm chores or walking through snowy streets, these boots offer a balance of comfort and protection.

Insulation for Cold Weather

These boots do have 200g of KEEN.WARM insulation. This insulation is temperature-rated down to -25°F (-32°C). They also have a Thermal Heat Shield insole—I tried to show that in my review video at the top of the page. This is what insulates the bottom of the boot to keep that side of your foot warm.

The layered insole not only traps heat but also adds extra cushioning, enhancing overall comfort during long hours outside.

Traction and Grip for Icy Conditions

The outsole is a KEEN.FREEZE outsole, which is a rubber-based outsole designed to hold its elasticity in cold weather and provide optimal grip in wet and icy conditions. The lugs have 4 mm of depth.

This specially designed outsole delivers excellent traction, ensuring stability on slippery surfaces. Whether you’re walking on icy sidewalks or trudging through a snow-covered barnyard, the multi-directional lugs offer dependable grip.

Durable Materials and Toe Protection

These are soft toe boots, but of course, they do have the Keen rubber toe bumper, which does help protect the front of the boot. The upper is made with a premium treated leather, which holds up nicely even in harsh conditions.

The environmentally preferred leather comes from an LWG-certified tannery, which ensures a more sustainable production process. This thoughtful approach not only delivers high-quality material but also reduces environmental impact.

My Sizing Advice

In my review video at the top of the page I tried to show how these boots react on my foot. I ordered my normal sizing and I do not have any heel slippage, and my toes do not feel crowded, so normal sizing worked best for me.

They do have the elastic paneling for easy on and off. These boots have what Keen calls an original fit, which has generous space across the forefoot.

The generous forefoot space makes them ideal for individuals who need a bit more room for their toes to splay. Combined with the snug fit in the heel, this design ensures all-day comfort without compromising on support.

Great for Outdoor Work and More

Overall, a comfortable and easy-to-wear winter boot. They are great for farm chores and other winter outdoor work.

Whether you’re shoveling snow, feeding animals, or simply running errands on a cold day, these boots offer versatility and reliability.
