Hanes vs Champion Hoodies Compared (Sizing & Fit w/ photos)

In this article we compare Hanes vs Champion hoodies. I own both the Hanes Ecosmart Hoodie and the Champion Powerblend Hoodie. These are both very popular, affordable hoodies.

But there are some differences. As I will show you with the photos of mine, the Champion hoodies fits a little looser through the chest and arms.

In this article we will compare Hanes vs Champion hoodies so that you have a better idea what to expect. Again, these are the two specific types of hoodies we will compare:

  • Hanes Ecosmart Pullover Hoodie
  • Champion Powerblend Pullover Hoodie

Hanes vs Champion Hoodies

In my experience, I like the feel and fit of the Hanes Ecosmart Hoodies, and it fits me a little bit better than the Champion Powerblend Hoodie.

The fit is a little different between these, and it might impact your decision. Expect these two hoodies to have similar length, but the Champion Powerblend hoodie has a looser fit in the chest, shoulders, and arms.

Hanes Ecosmart Pullover Fleece Hoodie

The Hanes Ecosmart Pullover Hoodie is the most popular type of Hanes hoodie, due to it’s comfortable fit, and the wide range of colors available.

Again, as we discussed earlier, Hanes hoodie sizing will fluctuate a bit depending on the specific type of hoodie you choose. This article is to give you a clearer idea of how Hanes hoodies fit compared to Champion, by taking a specific look at their most popular options.

This Hanes Ecosmart Hoodie is a nice around-the-house hoodie, but can also function as a budget-friendly work hoodie.

How Do Hanes Ecosmart Hoodies Fit?

The Hanes Ecosmart Hoodie, in my experience, fits true to size. Here I am wearing a size medium (6’2 185):

As you can see, there is enough sleeve length in a size medium even for me with longer arms. And overall, the length is reasonable. I’m always between a medium and large for most clothes, and the length here for me at 6’2″/6’3″ was adequate.

Here is a look at my size medium Hanes hoodie compared to a size medium Hanes ComfortSoft t-shirt straight out of the package:

Pretty standard sizing for a hoodie. The chest and stomach runs bigger than a t-shirt. The length, overall, is similar to a t-shirt.

My Hanes hoodies is made with a cotton/poly blend. This helps reduce the total amount of shrinkage (but still do expect a little bit of shrinkage to occur).

I personally like this Hanes Ecosmart hoodie because it is a medium-weight hoodie that is very comfortable to wear. It is also quite affordable so you can replace it once every year or so. I wear mine around the house, and also sometimes keep it in my vehicle as a first line of defense against a sudden temperature change.

Champion Powerblend Hoodie

The Champion Powerblend Hoodie is the most popular type of Champion hoodie, due to it’s comfortable fit, and the wide range of colors and designs available.

They also make a version of this powerblend hoodie that has the “Champion” graphic across the front of the hoodie. This is actually the version that I own.

Again, as we discussed earlier, Champion hoodie sizing will fluctuate a bit depending on the specific type of hoodie you choose. This article is to give you a clearer idea of how Champion hoodies fit, by taking a specific look at their most popular option (the powerblend hoodie).

How Do Champion Powerblend Hoodies Fit?

The Champion Powerblend Hoodie, in my experience, fits true to size, and has a fit that is very consistent with other hoodies that I have owned. Here I am wearing a size medium (6’2 185):

As you can see, overall the sizing is pretty standard here. I’m always between a medium and large for most clothes, and the length here for me at 6’2″/6’3″ was adequate.

Here is a look at my size medium Champion hoodie compared to a size medium Hanes t-shirt straight out of the package:

As you can see, the chest and stomach runs bigger than a t-shirt, which is standard for a hoodie. The length, overall, is a bit shorter than a t-shirt, which is typical for a hoodie. Overall, I feel like the length of this hoodie is perfect.

Hanes vs Champion

As I mentioned earlier, in my experience, I prefer the Hanes Ecosmart Hoodie. Overall, the length of these two hoodies is quite similar. Here is a look at the Hanes Ecosmart Hoodie sitting on top of the Champion Powerblend Hoodie:

Again, the overall length of these two hoodies is basically the same. And the sleeve length is also very similar:

The main difference, in my experience, is the Champion Powerblend Hoodies have a little extra room built into the chest, shoulders, and arms. If you prefer a baggier fit, you might want to go with Champion. I personally prefer the Hanes Ecosmart Hoodie.

Ultimately, both of these hoodies are nice options if you are looking for a standard pullover hoodie to wear around the house. You can also keep these hoodies in your vehicle as a go-to first line of defense when the weather turns unexpectedly bad.
